UnileverEast and Southern Africa (ESA) is a Unilever Subsidiary operating in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, Malawi. ESA covers a market of 19 countries with a population of 150 million people in ESA. Unilever operates two businesses, the Consumer business dealing with FMCG and the Tea plantations business in Kenya and Tanzania. The plantations business is the biggest employer in Unilever with a workforce of 25,000 (10% of Unilever workforce). The Consumer business employs over 1,500 people directly. In addition we have 120 distributors spread across the 7 countries reaching more than 100,000 retail outlets each week. The scale of our company and its international dimension provide immense scope for personal development.

The origins of Unilever go back to a merger between two already powerful companies; the Margarine-Unie of the Netherlands and Lever Brother of Britain, in 1930. Since then Unilever had been one of the largest and most successful consumer goods companies in the world. It has operating companies in nearly one hundred countries and there are very few countries where the brands by which it is known are not found.
